Laughing Cows has been showcasing and championing women in comedy in the UK since 1998. 2009 saw the first ever Laughing Cows come to Berlin with one of the UK’s top comics, Shazia Mirza, headlining the evening. Following on from the success of last year’s show, Laughing Cows is back this time for a two-night run. Hosting the night again will be Laughing Cows resident MC, Maureen Younger, who will be joined this time by fellow UK comics, Shelagh Martin and Julie Jepson. Hackney Empire Finalist and Amused Moose Starlet, Maureen Younger is currently the resident MC for Laughing Cows in London, Birmingham and Berlin; and is a regular contributor on BBC Radio. Maureen was also a warm up act for the eye-opening show Puppetry of the Penis and recently supported top UK comic, Shazia Mirza, at various venues on a tour of her latest one woman show in the UK. Maureen regularly performs in Berlin in both English and German. Julie Jepson burst onto the comedy circuit when she reached the final of the Funny Women Comedy Awards in 2005 on only her 3rd gig. Since then she has performed at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, the Brighton Comedy festival as well as being invited onto the Funny Women National theatre tour. She regularly performs in comedy clubs up and down the UK. A Laughing Cows stalwart, Shelagh Martin regularly plays clubs in London and around the UK, and in 1997 won the “Spirit of the Fringe Award” for Stand-up at the Edinburgh Festival, with her show “Shelagh Martin Expands”. She has also performed in America. As well as live shows, Shelagh has done various TV, including “The World Stands up” (Paramount / Comedy Central) and Comedy Nation (BBC 2). She also co-wrote a cartoon show for BBC On line. So if you fancy a night of real UK comedy, then Laughing Cows is the night for you. Laughing Cows is taking place on Tuesday 30th and Wednesday 31st March, at Comedy Club Kookaburra, Schönhauser Allee 184, 10119 Berlin. Doors open 19:30 and the show kicks off at 20:30.
